Many many times I have been there..... I really will not go again unless it is storming.... It is getting bad with the local tweekers of Bodfish and Bakersfield. It was bad people, vibe and some shit has been going on there. When we went last in December..... some one got beat up.... the cops were called, also my girlfriend got grouped by some guy and another time Alan and I were camping at the top and we heard glass break ...... yelling and come to find out someone care was brooke into for a 3rd time in two weeks. The weekends are the worst.... and here we were on a week day.... yikes! Also someone drunk took a shit in one off the pools. Also it is not a place you want to sit in the tub as a woman all alone. You might get raped. There is allot of gang activity going on concerning drugs. And the parting at night is crazy.... most of the time you get a very unwelcome vibe from the night time crowd. It is so sad to see this change. I would not be surprised if the forest service does not come and destroy the tubs soon like they did miracle.
If you or your friends take the chance and go..... be warned and armed ....... it is a luck of the draw to meet cool people there anymore and if you do...... they are soon to leave when the locals get there. This is what happen when the tubs are easy to get too. i would go else where. I would just take the extra 4 hours to get to Saline or the east side from the same way you would get to remington. On the way....take a hike down see the tubs and be on your way to a better place. SO VERY SAD!
ALSO THE LAST TIME WE WENT THERE WAS BLOOD ALL OVER AROUND THE TUBS FROM THE GUY WHO GO BEAT UP. TIMES ARE CHANGING AND PEOPLE ARE CHANGING. BE SAFE AND AWARE. KNOW YOUR CARE IS NOT SAFE LEFT AT THE TOP ANYMORE AND NEITHER ARE YOU LET ALONE THE TUBS. PLEASE LOOK AT THIS!

  • Thank you for posting this information. I really like Remington and Hobo too before it was closed. Delongha rocked until access was restricted. Bodfish & Lake Isabella has had a really bad Meth problem going on and it sounds like it's getting worse.

At this point, real HS folks might consider stealth visits Delongha again. It was closed after a someone was murdered there. Just have to walk a long distance or ride a bike and hide it in the brush well off the highway.
  • There was a recent rainbow gathering there that sparked a lot of the locals' ire. A hippie short bus was stuck there, waiting for repairs, for a couple of weeks, following the gathering because their radiator had been stabbed, and their tires slashed. The plugs for the tubs had been stolen but 2 weeks later when we returned they had been replaced. We have heard the weekends are sfest and the week days are the most dangerous, but in general this is a day soak. Great in the early morning till afternoon. We camp up 178 nearer to Lake Isabella. I won't camp there anymore last time we did we didn't see anyone in the lower parking lot, and were kind of creeped out to be there alone ( after hearing stories or tweakers, gangs etc.) so we parked in the top parking lot. After an hour or so we heard this crazy whooping. "Whoop, Whoop, Whoop, Whoop, Whoop," coming from the lowere parking lot. I freaked out and told my husband to leave, we did, not before he teased me about chupacabras. I don't care if that was a bird it still scared the daylights out of me, and I won't camp there again.
    • Lol. It's too bad Remington turned into such a shithole. I've never been there myself, but I loved miracle hot springs and wish it was still around.

I really wish there was a hotspring like deep creek near Fresno. I terribly miss going to deep creek. It's the best hotspring I've ever been to.
      • From soakersforum.com:

The Forest Service announced its plans to destroy and remove the tubs at
Remington Hot Springs on the Lower Kern River.

Their complaints are noise, nudity, drugs, trash, pet waste, and the
time and cost of maintenance and enforcement.

Enforcement activity has increased dramatically this past summer. Most
recently two officers, patrolling at night with flashlights, arrested a
19-year-old male in the company of two juveniles for possession of
marijuana and for being under the influence. An adult was also cited for
contributing to the delinquency of a minor, by allowing a 15-year old
female to carry out a cardboard beer container with other trash they
        were removing.

Coupled with the typical attitude of unhappy, overpaid and generally
miserable Forest Service employees, this latest attack on local
recreation comes after years of hot tubs that have been destroyed at the
hands of the feds, including Miracle Hot Springs, one of the most famous
and beautiful spots in the area.

Users of the hot springs at Remington are being asked to sign a petition
to save the area from destruction. Please reply to this email, typing
“My signature appears electronically below” the following Petition.

        SAVE REMINGTON HOT SPRINGS
        PETITION

We the undersigned, who visit and maintain Remington Hot Springs,
believe the Forest Service has overstepped its authority by announcing
plans to destroy the facility. Dedicated volunteers have built and
maintained the tubs at no cost to the Forest Service. The area
maintains a century-old tradition for its medicinal and spiritual value
and to the local community for its economic influence. It also brings
positive public relations to a much-maligned Forest Service, whose
policies continue to suffer a decline in public acceptance. These
facilities should continue to be open to the public – maintained as they
have been by those unpaid volunteers willing to commit to the tasks of
safety, maintenance and cleanliness. This should continue with a spirit
of cooperation from the Forest Service.
