I am traveling up the 395 this weekend in a high clearance vehicle. I am going as far as Bishop from Los Angeles.
I am looking for an easy in / easy out hot spring, that will be a good experience for my not so outdoorsy wife and child. (trying to get them hooked).
I was thinking Keough, any other suggestions?

Re: Highway 395
Wed, September 17, 2008 - 7:01 PMGo further up to Mammoth Lakes and go west to Red's meadow. My family of 3 just went last week. Amazing hot spring showers. Tons of hiking and horse trails. ( they have a resort close to the campground with food, ice and horses for riding) Loved it. GO go go!

Re: Highway 395
Thu, September 18, 2008 - 4:26 PMKeough is alright but there's a lot of trash there and it's usually crowded. You might want to try the Long valley area near Hot creek on the other side of 395 from Mammouth. You can pretty much see all of them in a day. The "crab cooker" , "Hot tub". There are others but I forget their names. Best to get a guide book since you will need it to find these springs anyway but they are not far from the Highway. Try "Guide to Hot springs of Cal. Nev." from Falcon books. Great views! Buy the way. In the Long valley area.
