  • I don't know from personal experience (never been there), but soak.net says there are some hot springs in Georgia. That doesn't necessarily mean they're accessible for soaking, so you may want to look into accessibility. Warm Springs in Phenix City, AL is 1 1/2 hours away from Atlanta according to the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation Website - Franklin D. Roosevelt used to go to this springs to try to heal his polio. Lifsey Spring is supposed to be near Atlanta - couldn't find much information about it. You could also try hotspringsenthusiast.com for more Georgia listings - doesn't seem to be much info there either, but there are some listings that you might be able to research elsewhere. Good luck!
  • I was looking for the same thing myself on a recent trip to Hixon, TN (Chatanooga). The closest, actually HOT spring that we found was about 3 hrs. east in North Carolina - North Carolina Hotsprings. It is pretty Commercial, but nice nonetheless. Situated at the base of the Appalachian Trail, the town is small but fun with lots of outdoorsy type things to do and people seemed pretty laid back (at least for the east coast) to me. Actually reminded me of home in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Put North Carolina Hotsprings in yer Google; If I remember they have some pics, not to say they do it the justice it deserves. The place is beautiful -- and you can bottle and drink your own swwet-tasting hotspring water. I think its like $20-25 to rent a tub for an hour. They pump it into standard issue hot tubs but it still smells a little sulphury.
