I have heard there is an old resort near Gilroy that you can hike into for a private gypsy soak. Does anyone have the low down on directions?

Re: Gilroy hot springs
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 10:21 PMThe last time I was out that way (more years ago than I can remember) it was all posted as private property, no trespassing even though it was listed as a California Historic Landmark and there were signs off 101 that directed you right to the entrance (several miles up in the hills). I never figured out how a private resort merited such signage (all paid by the state, of course).
The property was apparently sold to the state in 2003 and added to Henry W. Cow State Park. However, the area remains closed until they implement a management plan, which could take a very long time knowing all the red tape involved. You can read about it on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilr...ot_Springs -

Tue, April 15, 2008 - 9:19 AMIt is amazing. Unfortunately the rangers are on to it and are giving tickets at the tub itself now, no longer just waiting at your car. Good luck! -

Thu, April 17, 2008 - 3:23 AMheh, there is a tub? sounds like rangers could take a bath themselves on quiet days...something to do.
(of course everyone KNOWS law enforcement never sinks to indulging in the very behaviors for which it cites or otherwise checks ordinary civilians...) -

They'd do the same as I do - leave them somewhere dry that's still within reach. I usually leave mine concealed in a gear bag of some king, along with who-knows-what-else. -

note to self: kick away gear bag before trying anything hinky. -

Sat, April 19, 2008 - 10:26 AMY'all're crackin' me up! I've been there about 4 times and didn't get caught, but there was a time I went and saw a young couple walking back across the bridge get tickets, so we went for a walk on the legal side of the creek. Love it and leave it clean! Such a serene place. -

Re: Gilroy hot springs
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 11:20 AMI just went there a little over a week ago and did not get caught. It is a very interesting historical site but unfortunatelly the tub has been dismantled. The concrete tub is still there but they have dismantled the pipe going to the tub. If you brough out some PVC and had time to wait for it to fill you could get a soak, but then your hanging out longer to get caught by the police.
